If you didn’t make it to IBC, or indeed are still stuck at Schiphol trying to get back a week later, here’s the first of our exclusive videos shot on the IBC2022 show floor.

Sony had a lot to show at IBC, as befits a three year wait between shows. Claus Pfeifer,

Connected Content Acquisition at Sony Germany, is your guide round various parts of the Sony stand, where we start understandably with the FR7 PTZ camera

“You usually have a smaller sensor and a fixed lens. Here you have the freedom of using any kind of E mount lenses,” he explains. "You have the freedom of choosing wide angle or telephoto, and you can control it remotely. This sits within our cinema line so if your other camera is an FX6 you can easily blend it together with that camera.”

It’s a neat unit that has rather turned the PTZ market upside down, effectively creating a brand new high end.

Elsewhere, Claus also shows the Venice 2 Extension Unit with its extremely useful up to 12 metre extension, and a whole lot more — all of which you can watch in the video below.
