Two of the world’s most reputable organisations in the gas detection and monitoring sector are joining forces at this year’s Offshore North Seas (ONS) exhibition taking place in Stavanger, Norway between 29th August and 1st September. Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection and Teledyne FLIR will be exhibiting together on stand 1063, in hall 10

ONS 2022 is expecting to welcome over 5,000 visitors from across the globe, in 9 exhibitor halls, taking up over 20,000 square meters of exhibition space. This is a great opportunity to see some of the world’s most widely used and advanced gas detection and monitoring instrumentation to provide protection for people and assets alike. 

Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection will be showing off a variety of class-leading products, including their GD1 hydrogen sulphide (H2S) laser detector. The cornerstone of this this innovative instrument is a tuneable laser diode that eradicates adverse effects on accurate monitoring  from sun, rain and fog. The GD1’s quick and fail-safe laser requires no recalibration and provides an ideal replacement for multiple standard detectors covering the same risk. Since 2021, over 800 GD1 detectors have been installed successfully.

Teledyne’s GD10P infrared gas detector with full firmware upgrade to enhance product performance in highly demanding SIL2 approved applications will also be on show in Stavanger. Compared to other infrared gas detectors, the GD10P’s new firmware makes this detector stand out, especially when you consider too the detector’s solid-state infrared source and the 15-year warranty that comes with this device. 

The GD10PE will also be on show: this infrared point detector provides the perfect solution for operators who require rapid and dependable detection of low concentrations of gas. The GD10PE has a measuring range of 0-20% LEL and is five times as sensitive as the conventional standard point detectors on today’s market.

Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection will also exhibit their new, extremely user-friendly, touch-panel controller; this is ideal for larger plants who need precise and trouble-free detection that is easy in install and use. The controller also features enhanced event datalogging capabilities and full IoT compatibility. 

Teledyne FLIR will be displaying several complementary products at ONS, such as the highly innovative GFx320 OGI (optical gas imaging) camera. This camera visualises fugitive hydrocarbon leaks at offshore platforms, natural gas well sites and LNG terminals. The GFx320 OGI  provides a safe way to ‘see’ methane leaks, the instrument’s certifications give surveyors the peace-of-mind to work confidently while maintaining safety in these potentially hazardous locations.. 

The QL320 optical gas imaging system that enables operators to measure the leak rates of methane will also be displayed. This capability takes away the necessity for secondary sampling by use of a toxic vapour analyser or similar instrument. The QL320 does not need to be in close proximity with the gas to be able to measure emission rates, so it offers a safer way to quantify gas leaks that were, until recently, difficult to measure.

Another Teledyne innovation on show will be the FLIR GF77 uncooled optical gas imaging camera; this includes interchangeable lens options that can detect a variety of gases, such as methane and other hydrocarbons. In addition, this device can carry out gas detection and radiometric temperature measurement, making it the ideal tool for thermal inspections.

Teledyne FLIR will also display their GF343 optical gas imaging camera; this allows operators to see carbon dioxide leaks, perhaps as part of an enhanced oil recovery programme rapidly, easily and from a safe distance.
